Medical cooperation in ASEAN community deeper

Immediately after the opening session, the Conference undertook SOMHD 10 plenary sessions to update and check the contents in the large conference in recent times, while discussing the Health Development Programme ASEAN after 2015 with 18 priority health areas are divided into four main groups, namely:

Group 1: Promote healthy lifestyles with the goal by 2020: ASEAN community get the best health through enhanced healthy lifestyles and healthy life Guarantee for all people of all ages. Health priorities include: prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCD); Reduce tobacco consumption and alcohol; Injury prevention; Occupational disease prevention; Improving mental health; Enhance health and dynamism for the elderly and Strengthening good nutrition, healthy diet.

Group 2: Respond to any risk and disease threats. Objectives 2020: Strengthening sustainable health systems to deal with infectious and contagious cacbenh emerging diseases and neglected tropical diseases; Responding to the threat of environmental health, disaster and ensure preparedness for effective medical management of disasters in the region. Health priorities include: Prevention of infectious diseases, emerging infectious diseases and neglected diseases; Strengthening laboratory capacity; Solve the problem of drug resistance; Environmental health and health impact assessments; Health Management in disaster.

Group 3: Strengthening health systems and access to health care. Objectives 2020: the ASEAN Community will have access to the health care system quality and safety with good quality medicines including traditional medicine and alternative products; Achieve and sustain the Millennium Development Goals related to health. Health priorities include: Traditional Medicine; The Millennium Development Goals related to health (MDGs 4,5,6); National Health Care (UHC), Health of migrants; Drug development; Finance of health care; Human resource development.

Group 4: Ensuring Food Safety. 2020 Objective: Increase access to safe food, safe drinking water and sanitation. Health priorities include: Food Safety; Water and sanitation, water resources.

Information at the opening of the conference SOMHD 10, Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said Vietnam has been very successful in implementing the Millennium Development Goals and the international community were rated as 1 in 10 countries around the world successfully implement Millennium Development Goals 4 (reduce mortality in children under 1 year old, under 5 years, reducing the rate of malnutrition among children under 5 years old) and target Millennium development 5 (reducing maternal mortality). With the strength in the field of traditional medicine, Vietnam has integrated traditional medicine with modern medicine in health care for people, disease prevention priorities. "Vietnam is gradually changing and improving the system of health care in the direction of Fairness - Efficiency and development, ensuring that all citizens have access to health services in a comprehensive, high quality, ensuring integration with the international community and countries in the region to meet the needs of health care and the increasing diversity of the people "- the minister said.
