Deputy Minister of Health Le Quang Cuong delegation led by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam attended the 66th Session of the Executive Council of the Western Pacific Region of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Guam, United States .

66th Session of the Executive Council of the Western Pacific Region of the World Health Organization (WHO) taking place from 12 - 16.10.2015 in Guam, United States. The delegation of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam led by Deputy Le Quang Cuong as Head of the delegation to attend the conference.

Every year, the Executive Board of the WHO Western Pacific region includes 37 countries and territories in the Western Pacific region (Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia , Australia, United States ...) gathered to discuss and adopt the strategies, policies and programs of the health care sector to implement global health goals and meet the health priorities of the nation.

Attending the session were a delegation of the country by the Minister / Deputy Minister of Health states, head of delegation, the head of the World Health Organization and a number of international organizations such as WHO Regional Director Western Pacific, WHO Assistant Director General in charge of the global health program, Director global Fund against TB, HIV, malaria ... and medical leaders from a number of academics, national universities and well-known public health in the Western Pacific region.

This session will adopt policies and critical health programs, as a basis for orientation WHO and countries in the area of ​​application deployment such as regional action plan on hepatitis B phase 2016-2020, regional action framework implemented global strategy on tuberculosis eradication period 2016-2020, guidelines on the implementation of universal health coverage, regional action plan on violence prevention injury forces and the period 2016-2020, regional Framework for action on urban health 2016-2020 period.

Besides, the session will also review the results of the WHO in collaboration with the country has achieved in the past year and the challenges facing the health care of people, such as prevention infectious diseases, health security and effective response to emergency medical situations (epidemics, natural disasters, catastrophes ...), prevention of non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular, diabetes, overweight, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma), improving health at all stages of human life (such as health care babies, mother-child and the elderly) , strengthening health systems.
