SOMHD 10th Conference and related meetings in Vietnam: Focusing discuss health programs Development of ASEAN after 2015

Reporter: Could you give specific information about SOMHD 10th Conference and the related conference?

TS. Tran Thi Giang Huong: Conference SOMHD and related conferences are held annually rotating mechanism in ASEAN member countries. The aim of the conference to review the implementation of the activities, the following tasks arising from the previous meeting and the following year SOMHD Conference of ASEAN Ministers of Health; duties and activities of ASEAN Health Ministers delegated to the senior officials of the ASEAN Health Development to assist the Minister in performing the operation, the agreement, the joint statement has been committed Conference of Health Ministers of ASEAN.

SOMHD Conference is also a forum for the senior officials of health development to prepare content for the Health Ministers' Meeting of ASEAN will be held then rotating mechanism and is held 1 time for 2 years.

According to a rotational basis, in 2015, Vietnam is the host country to host the 10th Conference SOMHD and related conferences including the Conference of Senior Officials health development of the ASEAN +3 (China Korea, South Korea, Japan) and the Conference 5th senior officials on health development of China ASEAN + 5th.

TS. Tran Thi Giang Huong: Social Cultural Community ASEAN is one of three pillars of the ASEAN Community, with the goal of building a community of peoples of ASEAN solidarity, caring and sharing, towards people, care for physically and welfare, the environment and better lives of people and to create a common regional identity. Therefore, one of the problems concern the ASEAN countries and posed for discussion at the 10th Conference SOMHD held in Vietnam's Health Program Development of ASEAN after 2015 (period 2015-2020) with 18 priority health areas are divided into four main groups.

Group 1: Promote healthy lifestyles with the goal by 2020 is the ASEAN community get the best health through enhanced healthy lifestyles and ensure healthy life for all people of all ages; Group 2: Responding to all the risks and threats to target diseases by 2020 is to strengthen sustainable health systems to cope with infectious diseases and emerging infectious, diseases and neglected tropical diseases; Responding to the threat of environmental health, disaster and ensure preparedness for effective medical management of disasters in the region; Group 3: Strengthening health systems and access to health care with the goal of an ASEAN Community by 2020 will have access to the health care system quality, safety and good quality medicines include drugs traditional medicine and alternative products; Achieve and sustain the Millennium Development Goals related to health care; Group 4: Ensure food safety with the goal to 2020 increase access to safe food, safe drinking water and sanitation.

SOMHD 10th conference will also discuss and adopt management mechanism and working of health care Development Programme after 2015.

Besides the main contents of SOMHD Conference, the Conference of Senior Officials health development of the ASEAN +3 (China, Korea and Japan) and the 5th ASEAN + Conference of Chinese SOMHD times 5th also discussed several agenda related to the review of previous activities and priorities in health cooperation between ASEAN and its partner countries outside the region ...; Update Health Development Program of ASEAN after 2015; Update on disaster medicine in health priority in medical management of disasters; Preparing for the Health Ministers Meeting and the 13th ASEAN-related meetings in Brunei Dausalam in 2016.

Successful experience from this conference, typically the Conference of Ministers of the 12th ASEAN countries in Hanoi, will help Vietnam in its role as host of the Conference SOMHD 10 Conference as well as the related there are voices consensus to reach a Health Development Program of ASEAN after 2015 with the contents of comprehensive cooperation and in accordance with the national priorities of the member.
