2017 Fieldtrip in Tay Ninh province: ICD Delegation had a working session with Tay Ninh health units

The fieldtrip in Tay Ninh is one of four fieldtrips carried out by the ICD in 2017 under its plan for supervising the local international cooperation activities. These fieldtrips which were financed by the World Health Organization (WHO) aimed at understanding the local health situation, the local health issues and priorities; examining and monitoring the international cooperation activities of the local medical units, and understanding their advantages and disadvantages; and proposing the solutions to enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation activities in local health units.

To that end, a Delegation of the International Cooperation Department (ICD), led by Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Director of ICD, had a working session in headquarters of Tay Ninh Department of Health (DOH) on September 12, with the representatives from the DOH and other local health units.

Following the opening remarks delivered by Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Delegation about the purpose of this fieldtrip, a representative of Tay Ninh DOH reported to the Delegation the local health situation and the major results on international cooperation and health development in Tay Ninh province.

He informed the Delegation that the system of medical facilities in Tay Ninh province included 06 provincial hospitals; 09 provincial-level specialized centers; 09 health centers at district level that perform  two functions: medical examination and prevention;  02 regional clinics and 95 health stations located at Commines, wards, towns of the province.

According to the report made by the representative of Tay Ninh DOH, at that time, there were 05 international cooperation projects and programs which were implemented in Tay Ninh province, namely the National Tuberculosis Prevention Program – Technical Assistance Project provided by Global Fund: Gene-Xpert Testing for detection of drug-resistant Tuberculosis; project on "HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Treatment" funded by AHF and Global Fund; project on "Prevention of Infectious Diseases in the Greater Mekong Sub-region"; Tay Ninh Provincial General Hospital Component Project under Provincial Hospital Development Project, phase II, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA); and Health System Support Project funded by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria in the period 2012-2016.
