2017 Fieldtrip in Thanh Hoa province: ICD Director General had a working session with DOH leaders

Delegation of the International Cooperation Department (ICD), led by Assoc. Prof. Tran Thi Giang Huong, Director General of ICD, carried out the fieldtrip to Thanh Hoa province on September 27-28, 2017. The fieldtrip which is one of four fieldtrips organized by ICD in 2017, aimed at monitoring and evaluating the activities of international cooperation at the local heath units under the Ministry of Heath, by which ICD would provide them with the recommendations and solutions to strengthen their international cooperation activities.

In the fieldtrip, ICD Delegation had a working session at the Headquarters of Thanh Hoa Department of Health (DOH) on September 27 with their representatives. Following the opening remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof. Tran Thi Giang Huong, Head of the Delegation about the purpose of this fieldtrip, leader of Thanh Hoa DOH reported to the Delegation the international cooperation activities implemented by Thanh Hoa DOH.

Up to now, in the health sector, Thanh Hoa province has been received the ODA and concessional loans capital mainly from the KfW Development Bank of Germany; the Global Fund; the World Bank; and the Asian Development Bank. At present, there are 6 on-going health projects that are implemented in Thanh Hoa province, namely: the Project on strengthening provincial health systems funded by the KfW Development Bank of Germany; the Hospital Waste Management Support Project funded by the World Bank; the Project on strengthening community-based malaria prevention focusing on the vulnerable, the capacity and the sustainability of national malaria prevention Program between 2016-2017 funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Vietnam HIV/AIDS Prevention Project in Thanh Hoa province funded by the US Center for Disease Prevention and Control; the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Project funded by the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria Prevention and Control; Greater Mekong Sub Region: Capacity Building for HIV/AIDS Prevention Project funded by the Asian Development Bank.

The leader of Thanh Hoa DOH expressed his hope that ICD would continue support Thanh Hoa province in implementing the health international cooperation activities in the coming time.
